What is the best way to treat chronically chapped lips?

I have a lip ring in the middle of my bottom lip, and on either side of the ring (not under the ring it's self, but on either side) my lips get severly chapped. What are the best chapsticks or homemade remedies?? Please help!!! Its not the most attractive thing!!!!What is the best way to treat chronically chapped lips?
The most important thing to do is drink plenty of water - this will hydrate your skin (including your lips). Avoid licking your lips %26amp; playing with your lip ring. Contrary to those who tell you to take out the lip ring, you can live healthily with it. I use Blistex Medicated Lip Balm, but if money is not an issue, try Clinique Just For Lips. Mmmm! Also, plain, unscented lotion works well (I use Udder Cream). What is the best way to treat chronically chapped lips?

Chapped lips aren't nearly as un-attractive as a lip ring!!

For your chapped lips you might try some possum belly grease. Coat your lips in the morning and at night. It is very thick and clinging. It will stay on all day. The best place to get the grease, if you can't find a live possum, it a night time road kill before the sun dries it up. Use a little extra perfume to cover the stink it will have. Good luck. Pops
i did not believe it when i heard it but the solution is to

drink more water. not more coffee or tea or soda.

water. i can always tell when i have not had enough

water because my lips are suddenly dry again. it takes

a lot of water but one way to find out where to start is

weigh yourself and every day come what may drink an

ounce of water for each 2 pounds you weigh. it will

be only a few days before you see a difference.
BAG BALM It's a product made in a small town in Lyndonville, VT. It's used world wide by people for everything from chapped hands to burns, cuts, scrapes and cows udders. Yeah, I know:) My grandfather used to use it on us kids all the time. go to www.bagbalm.com and order direct. Check it out.
Water and of course, carmex.....
Blistex,Medicated, the stuff is Awesome and not only will it heal your lips,It immediately releaves the pain and soothes them,You can buy in any Walgreens,C.V.S.,ect. It cost only like under Two Bucks!Good Luck,Hollywood
Maybe go see a doctor, don't bdagar yourself with taking the ring out.
Sparkel hi: well if you has dry and chapped lips use medicated

lip balm .Because it will keep moisture in plus heal blisters too

as a reccomended this stuff works for men too yes! we need that also.
It is the Meth you are using....lots of water and vasiline.
I recommend the Body Shops' Cocoa Butter Lip Care Stick. It costs $5 or 2 for $8. It is a pretty simple compound, with no menthol or crap that will irritate your lips. The simpler, the better.

If your lips are severly chapped, be careful with the medicated lip balms or lip balms with menthol. They may be useful to use once or twice, but they will make the condition worse if you use it more than a few times, so you'll want to immediately switch over to somethign more basic.....I don't use petroleum jelly because it causes pimples around the lip area. The Body Shop balm works great for me.
use alo vera or some kind of balmex or carmex that will treat it.
In my opinion, the best working (both with vitamin E), feeling, tasting and smelling lip treatments are:

NEOSPORIN LT LIP TREATMENT ($4.29)

JO MALONE VITAMIN E LIP CONDITIONER SPF 15 ($20.00)

Every two days use a mild facial scrub on your lips to remove dead skin. This will allow your lip balm to penetrate most effectively.

Drink plenty of water and avoid caffeinated beverages, which cause dehydration. A humidifier in you bedroom will also provide relief.
pure emu oil... it works awsome.. you can find it at farmers markets...
Wash and dry your lips. Apply vaseline on them every night before bed. Use a small amount during the day. This will help mosturize them. Also drink alot of water. This will mosture you body from within.

Here is a personal experience.
Carmex and the vitamin E oil. (but you'll like the Carmex) I grew up on a dairy, and even with bag balm,etc... available, I would still use the Carmex!
you may need a humidifier in your home, if the air is too dry this will aggravate the problem. You want a non waxy lip treatment like blistex to heal them up. Then a lip balm with vitamin e to nourish your lips daily.
chapstick!!! the best brand.
ok this might sound gross but thier is this suff they put on cows for with they have chapped uders it really works and it works on burns too
My doctor recommends Neosporin Ointment. Good luck.
See a dermatologist (skin doctor). Ask him/her to prescribe a tube of ';petrolatum'; for you. Keep your lips lathered in that for awhile. It did the trick for me once.
DO NOT USE:

VASELINE

AQUAPHOR

CARMEX

PETROLEUM BASED BALMS ARE NOT BENEFICIAL CONTRARY TO POPULAR BELIEF %26amp; THE NURSES ADVICE. YOU WANT A BALM WITH VITAMIN E, BEESWAX AND SPF 10 OR HIGHER.
vasiline, aquaphor, blistex, lindi lip balm, drink 6-8 glasses of water daily. heres more info:

Most people get chapped lips from time to time . Dry, cracked or sore lips can interfere with many daily activities, such as smiling, kissing, eating and talking.

Lips may become chapped for a variety of reasons. These include:

Exposure to wind, sun, and cold, dry air

Obstructed breathing, such as in allergic rhinitis, which can force you to breathe through your mouth

Contact dermatitis due to irritants or allergens in cosmetics or skin-care products

Certain medications, such as those used to treat acne

A habit of frequently licking your lips

Dehydration

To treat or prevent chapped lips, consider these tips:

Use an oil-based lubricating cream, such as Aquaphor Healing Ointment, or lip balm containing petrolatum or beeswax.

Apply lip cream, balm or lipstick before going out in cold, dry weather. Reapply several times while outside.

Choose a lip cream or balm that contains sunscreen. Sun exposure contributes to chapped lips.

Avoid licking your lips. Saliva evaporates quickly, leaving lips drier than before you licked them.

Avoid using a flavored lip balm, which can tempt you to lick your lips.

Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids. Dehydration can contribute to chapped lips.

Use a humidifier at home to keep air moist.

If chapping is severe and self-care measures don't seem to help, consult your doctor. Rarely, persistent chapped lips may indicate an underlying problem, such as dermatitis.
try using chapstick.
Brush your lips with your toothbrush (seriously) to remove the worst of the flaky bits of skin, then apply vaseline, and keep applying it, several times a day. Every time you remember, basically. You'll notice a difference in no time.
best think I have found was a lip balm I use chapstick thats medicated it will clear up in about 4 days I have the same problem
Please don't use chapstick. It contains alcohol to dry lips out(aren't they smart!) Have you tried Mary Kay's Satin Lips lip mask and balm? Totally awesome products, can't live without 'em. The mask takes away dead skin, and the balm is sort of vaseline-like, but way better. If you don't know a consultant, go to www.marykay.com, type in your zip code, and a name will pop up of someone in your area! They'll get together with you and let you try it for free, then you can decide if you like it. Hope that helps!!
A %26amp; D diaper rash ointment. I know it sounds gross, but it's effective.
u need 2 take it out at least for a minute.... let the ring soak in peroxide or alcohol. I have a pet peeve with dry lips and I need something moist on my lips or else I cannot function. Get some medicated vaseline since you got that piercing and work with that. Then use blistex or chap stick frequently. (hell my lips getin dry talkin about it). Whenever you think about it or when you feel them getting dry, slap some moisture on them, and over time doing this will keep them soft. Don't stop using it just because your lips aren't dry anymore. I love neutrogena clear lip gloss because it's thick and it lasts! But if you don't like shiny lips, then stick with the latter.
Carmex - as often as you can throughout the day.
CHRONIC
