Will drinking water get rid of chapped lips?

My lips are severly chapped and I was told that drinking water would help get rid of the problem. I don't want to use lip balm. How much water would I need to drink a day to get rid of chapped lips over a month long period. Ounce wise. Will drinking water get rid of chapped lips?
yes because it will prevent dehydration (i dont have an ounce ratio- just drink a glass or two)- but dont lik your lips because it will evaporate and dry them out again

here's what you can do if you want

(and maybe number 7 doesnt apply to you) :)Will drinking water get rid of chapped lips?
Use lip balm dude. You are basically saying the equivalent of ';How do I keep me head warm in the winter? I don't want to use a hat.'; Report Abuse

You better believe it... After shower etc, use Vaseline (or even butter)kind balm on(in)you navel (belly button), specially before sleep. Does work like magic and as a preventive measure as well. all the best. Report Abuse

That's probably one of the dumbest questions I've ever heard. we invented chapstick for a reason. Report Abuse

In addition to drinking water, any of the antioxidant oils like Safflower oil or Grapeseed oil is great. Use it to dip bread in (you can eat lots of it and add your favorite dipping spices)or to fry some veggies in, etc. It will lubricate from the inside out. Report Abuse

I think water will help, but chapstick is what you need to stop the pain now.

and if you are in cold weather, I don't know if the extra water will help
why thehell wont u use lip balm? anyway vaseline works... and yes 8-10, 12 ounce glasses of water each and everyday will help plain water..not mixed with anything..... no sugar,sodas...soda and coffee dehydrate you and make prob worse..
It won't fix your problem anytime soon. Apply a little Vaseline to your lips It will fix you up quite quickly
Keeping your body hydrated will help, but sometimes I think the lips need a little extra after being exposed to the elements. You should drink 6 eight ounce glasses of water a day.
Drinking more water helps a little. Vaseline at night is good. Also take vitamin E capsules. I would say also empty the contents of the vitamin E capsule in a your palm and rub your lips with it. It is an oil but very good for rough skin.
Drinking water prevents chapped lips from happening because it keeps them moisturized. If you want to get rid of the chapped lips you have now, buy a medicated chapstick, preferably with beeswax or aloe vera, and apply it whenever your lips feel dry. You should apply it when your lips don't glide when you rub them together. Apply it even when you don't have chapped lips in addition to drinking 8 glasses of water per day to keep your lips smooth and supple.
a lot just use chapstick and drink extra water dont lick them too much in ounce wise no clue in liter maybe a liter and a half a day would keep the chapped lips away
you would need to drink 3 glasses a day
no i do not think so
