Can anything besides chapstick help chapped lips?

My lips are sooo chapped that they are cracked and often bleeding. It's really painful and I can barely smile or talk without re-opening the cracks and having my lips bleed more! I've been smothering chapstick on them all day, but it's not really helping that much... Is there anything else that I can use, or do I just have to wait until my lips heal on their own?Can anything besides chapstick help chapped lips?
Drink lots of water.

Your lips are cracking because you are dehydrated.

And make sure you are using a medicated chap stick like blistex or carmex.

Right before you go to bed put a layer of vaseline or lots of chap stick on your lips, that will keep them from drying out while you sleep. Can anything besides chapstick help chapped lips?
Any type of Chapstick/Vaseline you use is only a temporary assistance to chapped lips. I recommend using the chapstick only when they get to the point of breaking but drink loads of water. Loads. Really. When your body is hydrated you shouldn't suffer so much. When you abuse the chapstick (no joke, i'm just exaggerating the abuse part) your body gets accustomed to using it and stops naturally moisturizing your lips so they dry out if you stop using chapstick. I'd say have bloody mouth for a few days and just drink water until your body adapts.
Here is a tip to see if you are dehydrated.

After you have had a wee, check the bowl before flushing. If there is hardly any colour in the bowl, you are probably drinking enough to remain hydrated. If it is somewhat coloured, you need to drink a little extra water.

If it is much darker, you need to drink a lot of extra water.

BUT BE CAREFUL, TOO MUCH WATER CAN DO UNTOLD DAMAGE.

Just recently a woman drank 4 litres of water in under two hours and she died as a result of her brain swelling due to the extra water.

Try to average 2-3 litres per day, spaced over your waking hours. You will also get some extra fluids from things like fruit or cooked meals.

But your wee will give you the best indicator.

I have developed cracked lips due to dehydration and a serious flu. My hydration is almost back to normal but I am still using the lip balm.

Dehydration is very serious. As humans comprise a huge percentage of water, losing just 2% of that volume can cause dehydration. Any more loss of fluids can lead to more severe symptoms.

Wiki will give you more info under dehydration.
you can either wait and keep on putting chapstick on regularly, or you can also put some vaseline on them, not a lot of course but just enough.

I'm in the same boat as you. Mine are also very chapped and they hurt at times
