Does anyone know any home remedies for chapped lips?

I have chapped lips and no chap stick! Are there any home remedies I can use until i get chap stick?Does anyone know any home remedies for chapped lips?
Vaseline helps, so does any cooking oil or grease including bacon grease or Crisco. If you want to prevent them try drinking more water. While in the interior of Alaska I had problems with chapped lips. At 50 degrees below zero things can get bad in a hurry. I asked the flight surgeon about a prescription and he informed me that all I really needed to do was drink more water. In other words, stay hydrated. I started drinking three 16 oz. glasses everyday, morning, noon and night just like it was medicine. It worked in Alaska, I imagine it will work for you as well.Does anyone know any home remedies for chapped lips?
Yep. The Dr. likened AK to a desert. When it gets COLD (-50F or so)the air dries out and we do too, but when it's cold we don't seem to get as thirsty. Hence we drink less water and dehydrate. Give it a try... Report Abuse

Sorry, I read your response as a question, not a statement. I'm very glad you are feeling better. Chapped ';anything'; is uncomfortable at the least and can be painful. Report Abuse

Try a little Vaseline if you have it...if not some butter or Crisco until you can get some chap stick.
Every night when I brush my teeth and tongue, I lightly exfolliate my lips with the brush. Then after having some water before bed, I'll put some moisturiser - a good, hydrating facial one, not a chapstick over the top. Personally my lips don't like most chapsticks because they just seem to stick to the surface, whereas putting a bit of good moisturiser on them helps them stay hydrated and plump.

I'm no glamour, but I often get complimented on my lips and kissing ;)
Vaseline aka petroleum jelly
