What can I do to prevent chapped lips in the winter?

Drinks lots of water, and avoid chapstick that feels ';minty';. The ones that feel cool and minty typically have menthol in them.


One of the worst things to use is carmex, it is chock full of menthol. The problem with menthol is that it feels good, yes, but it'll suck the moisture out of your lips. Carmex is very popular, but it was made originally to treat cold sores, because it dries out the liquid.





So, the moral of the story is, read the ingredients if you're going to use an ointment of any sort, and avoid anything with menthol. It'll just feel good, but it will dry out your lips more. Use a basic chapstick... I like Blistex moisture splash, it works very well and gives your lips a bit of a shine. Drink lots of water, people typically don't drink enough water anyway, and the winter is the perfect time for it to be revealed.What can I do to prevent chapped lips in the winter?
I had a problem with chapped lips for a while until I found that if you put petroleum jelly on your lips after showering that it keeps your lips hydrated and prevents them from cracking. i have a lot of trouble with this too. every night i put vaseline all around my mouth and on my lips (even on the skin around my lips) and i sleep with it on. when you wake make sure to take it off or it will make you skin oily. then just keep applying chapstick all day.
drink lots of fluid and apply lots of lip ointment

Buy some of the medicated chapstick. Wear it all the time and your lips will soon heal. It's minty and feels really good =]
well when my lips get chapped i mix sugar and a lil bit of water and rub it into my lips and it gets of all of the dead skin and then i use chap stick and it works really well
oh my god i hate it when that happens!


i use chap stick.


when i feel like my chap stick is wearing off.


i apply it again.
