yeah my lips are chapped super bad i keep using chapstick but its not helping at all...and i tried different brands too...nothing seems to help..is there any family secrets or something u heard to help chapped lips? thanx...Is there any other way to cure chapped lips besides using chapstick?
Get yourself some Carmex, put it on at night and wear it to bed. Stop licking your lips in the dry, cold weather. If you wear any lipstick or gloss, stop doing that as well. There is something in the lipstick and gloss that actually enhances dry lips. Probably has something to do with ';job security';.
Also, if you can watch your fat intake, that would help a great deal. Rancid fats contribute to unhealthy skin, hair and in your case, chapped lips. They actually dry out the skin membranes. I wish you luck with this. It really takes some getting use to. Drink only when you are thirsty and make sure that it is lukewarm, warm or room temperature, whatever you drink. Cold drinks also pull oils from the skin and since your drinking these drinks and they touch your lips, they can, in fact, dry them out more than if you didn't drink anything.
Good luck and watch your salt intake! If you want salt, replace hard salt with sea salt, or with Shoyu or Tamari Soy Sauce to help your body stay hydrated. Is there any other way to cure chapped lips besides using chapstick?
AQUAPHOR
I had chapt lips so bad one day that I had a chapped ring around my lip and the thing that really cured my lips was blistex it will help your lips but when your chappy lips have been cured use lip gloss on your lips they will moist your lips and plus if your a girl the guys will love them.Trust me I've been there and I have done that.
Petroleum jelly applied at night before bed and during the day will help
I love using organic unrefined coconut oil! It's fantastic on your lips, face ... all over!
If you sleep with your mouth open, put something on them for sure such as Vaseline or carmex or any other lip balm. This will definitely prevent them from drying out at night.
During the day, carmex is really great for protection, but it doesn't do much for HEALING. I would go to a drug store and buy a lip balm that specifically says it heals.
Doing those two things together should do the trick!
Don't use chapstick. It will just make your lips worse. It might feel good for awhile but it is not helping. It has the old rebound affect like nosedrops for a stuffy nose. Use a good lip balm. Even a good face moisturizer will be better.

I use Accutane for my acne and my lips get chapped like no other! I use Medicated Blistex Lip Ointment and it works SO well!!! Just apply some to your lips but just leave it there, dont spread it. After 5-10 minutes you can spread it and it will feel great!
Break a vitamin E open and rub some of it on your lips. It helps mine when they get chapped..
stop licking your lips and dont peel it or touch it
Don't you just hate winter? The dry air is the main reason people experience flaky splitting skin on the face and lips. After you brush your teeth, while your lips are still wet, take your toothbrush and move it along your lips with soft to medium strokes. It will remove some of the excess skin. I use A%26amp;D ointment ( the stuff used on an infants bottom) on my lips and it works great. It doesn't absorb as quickly as chapstick will. It's kinda gross if it gets on your tongue.

Is pertroleum jelly good for chapped lips?
Ive tried a lot of lips medication for my chapped lips but theyre still getting worst... pls helpIs pertroleum jelly good for chapped lips?
Vitamin E oil or just plain old Olive oil is good. I keep a small bottle with some Olive oil in it at my desk at work. Soft lips!Is pertroleum jelly good for chapped lips?
It may be dehydration and a B-vitamin deficiency. I use A%26amp;D ointment or Vicks, but Vaseline is totally fine.
Yes it is GOOD. Sometime BEST.
Vaseline is by far the best thing for chapped lips, at least for me. I actually tend to be somewhat allergic to most chapsticks, they make my chapped lips worse and sometimes make them sting and swell. Vaseline always makes my chapped lips go away. If you put it on everyday, in the morning, at night, and anytime your lips feel dry, it will help prevent any chapping.
Yeah it's good. They use it in the dental office when working on people with chapped lips. See below for good info on chapped lips.
Yes it's great!!!!!!
i have really dry lips and when i use it - they are great!!!
you just have to remember to keep applying it!
Yes, petroleum Jelly is good for chapped lips and many other forms of chapped and or dry skin.
yes, its the best on chapped lips
yes it's fine. are you getting enough water?
I don't think it would hurt, but if you have really bad chapped lips, which I certainly do, why would you use something that is in a big tube or bottle, why not get blistex or chapstick. Actually the best thing I have ever used is expensive, but really worth every penny, it's from a French company called Fresh. I live in NYC, so they are all over the place, but I think they have a website, and they have a chapstick called Sugar that is fantastic. It has worked like nothing else I have ever tried. Sometimes you have to pay for something good.straight hair

What is up with my chapped lips?
It seems like all of a sudden they get puffy and swollen and then by the next day they ';deflate'; and get chapped and painful. Finally, the skin on my lips starts to peel. What is going on and what could I do for this? Wearing chapstick doesn't even seem to help, it seems like my lips go into a cycle. What is up with my chapped lips?
too much kissing can chap your lips. Keep some blistex for your lips in your purse. What is up with my chapped lips?
Take a good multivitamin daily
Also take a good essential fatty acid supplement daily.
Dehydration can cause that...i know that when i go out the next day my lips will be swollen and feel like they are hot and then they seem chapped....drink more water.
Use Carmex, a little yellow and red tube for about a buck.
I certainly do hope that someone will provide you with an answer because I suffer from the same thing. At first I thought it might be the lipstick that I was wearing. I stopped using it and tried another brand, but to no avail. Still had the chapped lips with swelling and peeling. Mine, too, happens in cycles. My physician seems to think it is just my harmones going crazy. Whatever it is, it is causing me extreme discomfort at times.
its also a good idea to brush ur lips with a different softer toothbrush after uv brush ur teeth. i used to have chapped lips and the more i brushed them it went away. its an easy way to get rid of the dry skin... more like exfoliating it... and then afterwards just apply vaseline and dont lick ur lips so often.
Lips become softest and swollen around the time of your period, and when you're aroused. There are a lot of different lip balms that you can get from the pharmacy that might help.
Use vasoline or cocco butter. And do your lick your lips alot? If so, stop licking your lips all the time. That could be causing the lips to chap.

When do chapped lips from Accutane go away once you're done with it?
I've been off for 2 days now. When do chapped lips from Accutane go away once you're done with it?
I can't tell you from experience because I still have about a month left on the drug, but from what I've heard it's usually a couple weeks before they start getting back to normal. I do know that Accutane stays in the system for about a month, so I would think the chapped lips should definitely be lessening in that amount of time. When do chapped lips from Accutane go away once you're done with it?
chapped lips is one of the side effects... sorry just carry around chapstick alot and drink alot.

What is the best way to get rid of chapped lips quick?
I hate chapped lips. It hurts so bad, and it looks gross. This is a family secret. Well I guess a lot of people do it. It seems gross, but trust me! it works. Buy some Vaseline (petroleum jelly) at the pharmacy. You probably already have some at home. Before you go to bed, take a glob and rub it on your lips, and the skin around your lips. Don't be afraid to put a lot on. Remember to put a wash cloth or something on your pillow to make sure you don't make a mess as you sleep. Putting pure Vaseline on lips, and letting it set, is 100% more effective then putting on lip balm with Vaseline in it. When you wake up in the morning, rinse your mouth area. You will feel great. For the rest of the day, apply a lightweight natural lip balm. Not lip gloss! What is the best way to get rid of chapped lips quick?
Get a moist towel and gently rub your lips to get rid of the dead skin. Then go through your mom's stuff or something and get eye moisturizer. it's weird and definitely doesn't taste good like chapstick, but is made for super moisturizing. dab some on (because it's probably expensive) and let it sink in. this should help a lot.
avoid chapstick because that never helps me. i use burts beeswax regularly, but when i get all chapped i use vaseline. again, doesn't taste good, but definitely fixes the problem. What is the best way to get rid of chapped lips quick?
What I use to get rid of chapped lips is the ChapStick lip butter. It's a little expensive (nothing like ten dollars or anything) but it really does the trick. Usually, with other brands or whatever, my lips peel and feel uncomfortable but this stuff is amazing. It fights off Texas heat like a madman and it feels really nice on your lips.
Use Vaseline right before you go to sleep, and put on a lot. Then during the day always have chap stick with you. I think the best chap stick to use, is the ChapStick brand Moisturizer (it's the blue one). Hope this helped!
Put vaseline on your lips and brush with a toothbrush. After that keep lots of vaseline on them
Urine..

Vaseline is the best product. Get a mini jar and keep in your purse or car. Try to prevent licking your lips and don't forget to use it ever night before you go to bed!

What can I use for my baby's chapped lips?
My baby is one week old and her lips have been very dry for a couple of days. I'm afraid to use chapstick because she is so small and will probably get some in her mouth. I've searched online and haven't found anything about babies lip balm or chap stick. I think I'm going to ask her doctor tomorrow, but I just wondered if anyone could help. What can I use for my baby's chapped lips?
I wouldn't use anything. Babies' skin is waking up, and some flaking and peeling is normal. Wait and it should resolve itself. What can I use for my baby's chapped lips?
Try Vaseline. It sound like your baby may be dehydrated. Is she peeing a lot, is her tongue wet? If not you need to get her to the doctor immediately, babies with dehydration don't do well. I am talking from experience. My daughter got diarrhea at 11 months and within 12 hours she was extremely dehydrated. The ER staff told us that if we had waited another 2 hours to bring her in she would have died from the dehydration.
I don't want to scare you but you should probably get her in, especially since she is only a week old.
vaseline.
dry lips on an infant is a sign they are not getting enough to eat go to the emergency room now or call your pediatrician because it is really not good for your baby to be dehydrated.and never put anything on your babies lips that isn't safe to eat so using olive oil or avocado oil would be ok other than that nothing

Lansinoh, you use it when you have cracked nipples... it is SAFE if baby gets it in mouth.
Are they dry or is it more of a ';nursing blister';? My son (6 weeks) had ';dry'; lips w/ a nursing blister for the first 2 weeks...
If her diaper is wet every 2-3 hours, and she is having a ';poop stain'; after every feeding, sje is hydrated. If you can't tell that she is wet, put a tissue in her diaper....
Congratulations!! Welcome to Worried Parent 101! It never ends, trust me! There is always something to worry about!!
Vaseline work good and is safe if you use small amount.1-2 times a day.
yep i used vaseline as my babies lip got so dry it split. worked really well and it wont harm her if it gets in her mouth. good luck
Try Vaseline
My son's lips were really chapped when he was that age - the nurses at the hospital said regular chapstick would be fine (that's all I had). We didn't have to use it much. Just put a little on your (clean) finger and apply it to her lips.
Vaseline has been recommended by Doctors for uses like this for quite a few years.
When my baby was a newborn he also had chapped lips. The doctor said it was normal and it would go away. It's often due to breasfeeding on his new sensitive lips. He'll adjust and it should clear up in a week or two.
Use A%26amp;D ointment or vaseline. Is she getting enough liquids? Don't forget to give your baby water. Although they do get some from breastmilk of formula, it's always a good idea to have a bottle of water to give your baby from time to time.
